Holidays over – back to work!

A two week break in weddings allowed me to visit Marrakech and Fez, in Morocco.
A gap in wedding bookings in November allowed me to get away for two weeks – to Morocco. I stayed in my friend Philip’s place in Marrakech, theRiad Porte Royale for a few days, then off to Fez, an 8 hour train ride away. 

Fez is a smaller, quieter version of Marrakech. There are no annoying scooters, or motorised transport of any kind, allowed inside the city walls. Everything is transported by human or mule power. Even the mules wear rubber shoes (although that’s for grip on the the cobbled hills rather than for quietness.) As the French say, it’s ‘plus gentil.’ I stayed with ’slightly mad and English ‘Louis at his Dar Mernissi – you can read his entertaining blog about life in Fez here (of course, all the bits about my appetite for gin are totally made up!)
