My favourite 20 photos of 2010
These are actually my favourite expressions from last year’s wedding photography. My photography is all about seeing the moment and capturing it – whether it’s the bride’s father’s nervousnous, a Gay Gordons heading for impact, the delight in a couple eyes, or the happiness expressed by their guests.

Anna and Sandy’s wedding at Heriot’s School and the Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh
Anna and Sandy had chosen two beautiful locations for their wedding – a service in the chapel of Heriots school (where Anna had been a pupil and her mother teaches) and the Royal Botanic gardens. Transport between the two was a vintage VW soft top beatle, and the weather was kind enough to make the most of it!
As befits a couple who live in Paris, it was an international affair – I counted at least three languages being spoken during the course of the day.
And no wedding is complete without the best man (Sandy’s elder brother) doing his best to embarrass the groom!
There’s ten of my favourite photos here, and many more edinburgh wedding photos can be seen on the order prints page.

Iain and Cath’s wedding in the Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh
Last Saturday I volunteered to assist my friend Liisa Hilden-Parsons at Iain and Cath’s wedding in Edinburgh’s Botanic Gardens. Liisa, who lives in Leicestershire, had been ‘volunteered’ by a friend of her daughter to photograph the wedding of her friends. Liisa’s style of wedding photography is much more traditional than my own, and I thought it would be interesting to see how the other half work!
Cath’s dress was so amazing, and the location of their wedding so beautiful, I just had to put some of my photos here. They got married in a grove of giant redwoods, and had their reception in the Caledonian Hall. Despite the appearance of all the sunshine in these photos, in the shade it was bitterly cold (it has subsequently snowed in Edinburgh – in May!)
That’s all from me – but I’m sure Liisa will have a much larger selection available on her website soon.
