Briony and Ben’s wedding at Gullane and Archerfield
Somebody must have had a word with the weather gods before Briony and Ben’s wedding! The predicted “heavy showers all afternoon” never materialised, and they and their guests enjoyed a warm and dry, if cloudy, afternoon and evening.
After getting married in Briony’s family church in Gullane, the wedding party made it’s way through the Archerfield estate to the huge marquee next to Marine Villa, with inspiring views across the water to Fidra Island.
It is a fantastic location, mixing open views and tree lined walkways, and combined with the marquee, staff and wonderful food, you’re guaranteed to have a great day and evening. I have never seen a dance floor so consistently crowded with people!
Here’s a small selection of photos. There’s another 100 photos to view on the order prints page.

Anna and Sandy’s wedding at Heriot’s School and the Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh
Anna and Sandy had chosen two beautiful locations for their wedding – a service in the chapel of Heriots school (where Anna had been a pupil and her mother teaches) and the Royal Botanic gardens. Transport between the two was a vintage VW soft top beatle, and the weather was kind enough to make the most of it!
As befits a couple who live in Paris, it was an international affair – I counted at least three languages being spoken during the course of the day.
And no wedding is complete without the best man (Sandy’s elder brother) doing his best to embarrass the groom!
There’s ten of my favourite photos here, and many more edinburgh wedding photos can be seen on the order prints page.

Wedding photography at Carberry Tower
Clare and Marcus got married in Longniddry Church and then it was on to Carberry Tower for the reception and celebrations – and enthusiastic ceilidh dancing!
There’s the usual few photos here, with many more photographs on the order prints page.

Meghan’s birthday portraits
My friend Ali’s daughter Meghan was about to turn 18 when Ali decided to mark the occassion with a portrait shoot of her. The prints would be for the grand-parents!
Unfortunately, the weather meant that we couldn’t use the beautiful East Lothian scenery as a location, so I hung up a quick plain black backdrop instead. All in keeping with my ‘keep it simple’ philosophy.

Beth on the beach portraits
A colleague commented on the lack of portraits on my blog, so I’ve decided to rectify the situation.
My style of portrait photography is very similar to my wedding photography – it’s unobtrusive, natural and full of empathy for the subject and their surroundings.
Here’s a few photos of toddler Beth (who was very confused by the ripples in the sand!), with her parents on Belhaven beach. A portrait session that was totally unplanned, and the result of a chance meeting!
